UNIVAC Digital Recording Tape (1951)
UNIVAC TAPE Shown is a spool of nickel-plated bronze metal alloy digital recording tape for the UNIVAC computer. This 1/2 inch wide tape was made for the Remington Rand UNIVAC computers. The spool is made of aluminum and measures 6 inches. When new, it came in its own box with locking ring. One eight inch reel was equivalent to over 20,000 punched cards worth of information, or 1,400,000 characters (1.4 MB). |
